To benefit the charitable programs of Heading for Home including our retired racehorse aftercare activity and equine involved vocational skills program with the Saratoga High School CARE Experience classes.
A New Beginning in the Heart of Saratoga!
Every year thousands of race horses come out of training and what happens to them is particularly close to our hearts. Bred to compete, their athleticism and temperament is well suited to life at the track. However, the world of racing is entirely different than the domain of the pleasure horse. Given time, patience, correct handling and training, a retired race horse can bring considerable pleasure to their new owners. Affording them that opportunity is our mission.
From a performance perspective, off-the-track race horses can go on to be successful in many different disciplines, including hunter / jumper, eventing, dressage, pleasure, trail, and polo. Our programs are designed to combine the retraining of former racehorses with their participation in equine involved vocational programs, but truly there isn't anything these amazing animals cannot do.

In Their Own Words
I enjoyed physically engaging with the horses while having an emotional and mental connection with them was good for me in being able to express myself. The therapy aspect was inspiring to me because of how I do not do the best talking with people...
